1. Get started

Who: Everyone

• Web Accessibility: Lesson 1: Accessibility Overview: Estimated time: 1 hour
  • With this introduction, you’ll learn the basics about what goes into making web applications accessible. By the end, you should have an understanding of when and why users need accessibility. You are only required to take the first lesson.
• Optional: Lessons 2 - 6: Estimated time: 6 hours
  • For folks who are more curious, there are additional lessons of this course that will take you through the technical aspects of delivering on accessibility.

2. Learn about screen readers

Who: Everyone

Get an overview of how to use screen readers and other tools. There’s no need to install anything right now. Some of these tools require a bit more time to set up, but given time they will allow you to more accurately experience what the people who use them experience.

3. Install browser extensions

Who: Delivery team

These browser extensions allow you to preview accessibility errors and warnings at the page level. You can use these tools to temp check accessibility on sample pages or as part of your QA process.

These plugins help you test for color contrast as well as other accessibility options.
