For product, design, and engineers who want more

• W3C and edX: Estimated time: 16 - 20 hours. Cost: Free with optional $99 certification.
  • This online course provides the foundations to make digital technology accessible. It is self-paced so you can complete it in a shorter or longer time frame.
  • The course is structured so that you can focus on the topics that you are most interested in, including product management, testing, design, and engineering.

For engineers training for technical certifications

• Deque University Certification Training: Estimated time: 4.5 hours. Cost: $250 for training
  • This curriculum includes the courses you would need to prepare to certify as a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or a Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS).
  • Refer to the International Association of Accessibility Professionals certification overview for details. Cost: $485 for exam
• Department of Homeland Security Federal 508 Trusted Tester Program Cost: Free
  • For federal work, another optional certification program that is free to take. Provides a code-inspection-based test approach for determining web content conformance to the Section 508 standards.

Get started ✨

1. Capacity. Consider your capacity and make sure that you have time in your calendar to take on the training.
   • Talk to your manager to discuss your plan and get staffing support.
   • Create time blocks in your calendar to ensure that you have time held each week.
   • Ensure you work with your manager to update your Forecast and Log your hours in Harvest.
2. Budget. Review your Learning and Development budget to make sure you have a budget.
   • Ask a manager for assistance in purchasing or send receipts to [email protected]
   • Log any costs to the Budget spreadsheet.

3. Cohorts. Learning with others is a good way to maintain momentum.
   • Talk to other team members and/or your manager and see if anyone else wants to time their training at the same time.
   • Schedule weekly holds in you calendar to talk through what you’ve learned.
