Summary

Our principles align teams with a shared set of values as they apply to ethical and equitable best practices. Because we design for social impact and the public sector, we need to design for everyone. This might include people who may be mono-lingual, have low-literacy, be a senior citizen, have limited internet access or live with a range of disabilities.

Generative AI simultaneously represents both significant leap in technological opportunity and increased ethical and environmental risk. The promise of delivering better results to users faster is challenged by questions of reliability and embedded biases. There are also systemic factors that make this work harder in the public sector including resource constraints and existing mistrust of government services.

To empower teams, we’ve developed a set of guiding principles that address these issues and provide a starting point for fostering best practices:

Previous: Use case: Foster responsible adoption of Gen AI

Next: Principle: Prevent bias & exclusion & center data on the margins
